Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Jaya started her career as a Speech and Language Therapist after graduating from Sheffield University in 2014. Since then, she has undertaken additional training in Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support (SCERTS), Makaton (Enhanced Level), Social Stories, Word Aware and Talking Mats as well as a level 4 qualification in Supporting Children and Adults using Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
Jaya specialises in the assessment and treatment of children with Developmental Language Disorder and complex needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder and holds a strong belief in providing child centred interventions to enable every child to communicate to the best of their ability and achieve the best possible outcomes in education and in life.
In addition to her work as a clinician, Jaya has also worked for The Communication Trust as a Professional Advisor, overseeing the use of evidence and quality assurance for projects that have produced well known resources such as No Pens Day Wednesday, What Works and The Speech, Language and Communication Framework.
As a licensee for the Children’s Communication Charity I CAN, Jaya can also provide training for teachers and other education practitioners in interventions and programmes including Talk Boost, Early Talk Boost, Primary Talk and Talk About Talk Secondary.
