Sarah Beckett

Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Sarah is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist who graduated with distinction from the MSc in Speech and Language Sciences at University College London in 2013.

After qualifying she worked in the NHS for five years in primary and secondary mainstream and specialist schools services. During this time she specialised in assessment and support for young people (ages 11-19), particularly those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and/or social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). She worked in a secondary Autism Resource Base and established a service in a secondary specialist SEMH setting at The Royal Free Hospital. She has worked in ASC diagnosis as part of an NHS neurodevelopmental team.

Sarah now works independently with children and young people aged 4-19 with attention and listening needs, speech sound disorders, developmental language disorder, social communication needs, and SEMH needs including selective mutism. She has a gentle, friendly and empathetic approach and is happy to work with sensitive or anxious children at their pace. She enjoys working collaboratively with families and education settings. She sees clients in person (in school or at home) in some London boroughs, and also offers teletherapy.

Her training includes ADOS-2, Social Stories, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, SCERTS, Masterclass in SEMH.

Before training as a therapist Sarah completed a BA in English Literature and worked in childcare, the arts, and the charity sector.
